First Concept

I messed around with my ideas and decided I wanted to do a composition consisting of a metaphorical metamorphosis of despair to happiness. I liked the idea of growth like a flower blooming and evolved the concept from there. Heres my first concept picture:

  1. I think this image is really cool! I love the lines you've created with the phases of the moon and the butterflies. I think it certainly conveys a natural growth in terms of the flowers and the the changing of the moon, but also personal growth between the two figures. I also love the details of the figure's dress flowing into the flowers. I think you could explore a greater range of colors. Everything is really light and bright and I think it might help push the idea of despair to happiness to push the contrast between either side of the image. Overall, I think your work so far is really strong and I look forward to seeing your future edits!

  2. This is beautiful! The moon cycles definitely make this piece the most sequential, as well as the person changing. Perhaps there are other ways to incorporate more of a sequential change other than the moon? You could try adding budded flowers that transition to open flowers

    1. I really enjoy your concept here, especially because there's so many kinds of emotional metamorphoses, like grief and joy, loss and growth, etc. Viewing this narrative piece might also prompt viewers to think about their own emotive journeys. The imagery of the wilted flower by a figure folding in on themselves vs. the bloomed flower with a figure fully standing help to push this idea forward.
